As Chief Operating Officer, Dan Cawley oversees the Systems and Operations department and ensures that our finance, IT, office, HR and legal systems and strategies have the greatest possible impact to support Hopelab’s work. At Hopelab, Dan has established systems to steward the agency’s financial resources and oversees the cultivation of key partnerships, designing contractual aspects of these relationships that allow mutually beneficial collaboration. He uses an inquiry-based approach to understand the interests and needs of our partners in order to create win-win scenarios that support Hopelab’s mission and demonstrate our core values. Over years in previous positions, Dan gained knowledge and expertise in strategy development and implementation, fund development, finance, administration, and technology management. Prior to Hopelab, Dan was the Deputy Executive Director, Finance & Administration for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation, its global affiliate. He was previously Director of Finance & Administration for the Stop AIDS Project and the Business Director for the Foundation for National Progress, publishers of Mother Jones Magazine. Dan also held finance positions in other industries including motion picture production and telemarketing. Dan grew up in the Bronx, New York and attended SUNY Oswego, where he received his BS in Marketing. He loves completing all types of puzzles, watching a good movie and enjoying great food and cocktails with friends and family. Dan lives in San Francisco with his partner and two children.
