Imagining a beautiful, hoped-for future, I formatted this poem to mimic the sight of a mirror placed in front of another mirror: a long tunnel of reflections, hued greener and greener as the light continues to refract. Using this format as a base, this poem plays with the concept of love reflecting between people to create positive, revolutionary change, imagining a future that is environmentally sound, conscious of its past, and does not fracture in the face of struggle or disaster.

In writing the body of this piece, I thought about the works of Gabrielle Caveloressi, T.C. Tolbert, and Bhanu Kapil, especially when it came to their poems that orbit love as a connecting thread between individuals. Moreover, I owe much of my poetic inspiration to the people that I love and have loved—they make my work all the more devoted and optimistic. I firmly believe in the power of creative, love-driven work to imagine futures beyond the boundaries of our present world, and I hope that this poem brings us closer to a future that reflects love at all angles.
