Research Assistant / Staff

As a Research Assistant, Jayla provides support in the organization and implementation of Hopelab’s various research projects. She is a recent graduate of UCLA and holds a BS in Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Computing. During her time in college, she advocated for Black LGBTQ+ students for three years as the president of the student organization BlaQue. Outside of Hopelab, Jayla enjoys roller skating, fashion, and learning new languages.

Understanding how Queer young people describe how they experience joy through interactions they have on social media is key to helping us find opportunities to foster better well-being outcomes for them.

As digital natives, Gen Z is most familiar with navigating social media and digital platforms and should have a prominent role in co-creating policies, including KOSA, that impact them directly.
